What are daily lessons?

These short lessons cannot substitute speaking on a regular basis, which is the best way to improve. These lessons are a great way to keep improving in between lessons. They are short readings and videos selected by Marcus to help you save time and energy. It is not easy to stay motivated and even when you are motivated, it is difficult to find something new and interesting every day. I will take care of that for you, making it very simple for you to improve your English skills every single day!

Suggestion

Keep a “Daily Lesson” diary to track your progress and the new things that you learn, specifically the new sentences from the reading and video. You can easily come back and find all of the vocabulary words from the article on my website at a later date.

Well, someone forgot to mute. The Supreme Court was making history Wednesday afternoon, holding arguments over the phone because of Covid-19, when all of a sudden there was the distinct sound of a toilet flushing. Across the country, the public that has never before this week been able to listen in real time to oral arguments held remotely was treated not only to deep questions related to the First Amendment and robocalls but also to someone’s apparent bathroom break. The errant flush from an unknown source comes as the justices, lawyers and the country are dealing with the new realities — and hazards — of conducting their business over teleconference lines.

holding arguments – dispute or debate (legal)

all of a sudden – is an idiom that functions as an adverb phrase. It has the same meaning as suddenly, which means quickly or unexpectedly

flushing – cleanse (something, especially a toilet) by causing large quantities of water to pass through it.

treated to – an event or item that is out of the ordinary.

errant – erring or straying from the accepted course or standards.

dealing with – When you deal with something or someone that needs attention, you give your attention to them, and often solve a problem or make a decision concerning them.

hazards – a danger or risk
